The idea was to bring together like-minded people with an interest in Physics and Astronomy
and to promote discussions and collaborations.
The members of this fraternity comprise of slightly eccentric and invariably curious individuals, with an ever-increasing passion for exploring the Universe and a keen interest in Astronomy and Astrophysics.
Astro Club has been known to be one of the most active and dynamic fraternities in Fergusson College.
We have been quite successful so far, keeping the club active and bustling with people since 1998!
To foster skills, knowledge and experience of students.
It is truly a privilege to lead a chapter of individuals with differing interests and passions united by common values.
The Astro Club of the Department of Physics, Fergusson College was founded in 1998 by a group of enthusiastic students in the physics department. Although the name is “Astro” Club students here are free to interact and discuss any topics they desire. The club gives a platform for students who want to excel in Physics, Astronomy and any other science for that matter.
Initially, the students started with Annual exhibitions, weekly lecture series, then observational sessions, seminars and workshops. Today the list is endless as to what new activities the students will come up with.
Due to many activities of the Club many seniors, junior students interact and share ideas. Past students also visit and guide the new generation students whenever they are in Pune. Hence by the time students graduate they are exposed to many facets of education including research and hence they enjoy learning. Due to all these activities during their college years, students are moulded in such a way that they are get easily absorbed in various renowned national and international institutions for their further studies and get good job opportunities.
I invite you to take some time to explore our website and get to know our exceptional community.
